Minor Programs
On the UC San Diego campus, courses numbered 1-99 are lower-division (LD) and 100-199 are upper-division (UD). Transfer coursework may have different numbering, and students may check the level of courses in their Academic History.
(JS 25) Jewish Studies Minor
- Students must complete 7 courses (28 total units) in Jewish Studies. Courses may be selected from the Jewish Studies Course List.
- All 7 courses may be taken as upper-division.
- OR 5 upper-division courses and 2 lower-division courses.
- Students may petition to receive credit for courses outside of Jewish Studies; all study abroad courses must be petitioned.
- No more than two courses may be taken P/NP. Petitions must be submitted.

(M052) Hebrew Language and Literature Minor
- Students must complete 7 courses (28 total units) in Hebrew language and literature. Courses may be selected from the Jewish Studies Course List.
- Courses are usually fulfilled by Jewish Studies 1, 2, 3, 101, 102, and 103, plus one elective course. JWSP 104 is repeatable for credit and can be taken in lieu of 101, 102, and 103.
- Students may petition to receive credit for courses outside of Jewish Studies; all study abroad courses must be petitioned.
- No more than two courses may be taken P/NP. Petitions must be submitted.

Students may petition courses to count toward the minor if it contains at least 50% of Jewish Studies related content. Students may also submit petitions for P/NP courses, study abroad courses, and language requirement exceptions. Petitions must be submitted immediately for review; prior to, during, or after taking a course. You can email completed petitions at jewishstudies@ucsd.edu and make sure to include: Undergraduate Petition Form (one per course), course syllabus, and relevant course work needed for review.
